Gavin Conway

Gavin Conway is the bite behind the Big Dog Academy, which he founded in 2009 with the aim to bring boxing to everyone.

“I want to give everyone the opportunity to box, no matter who you are - no one gets turned away at the door. It means the world to me to show people how much good boxing can give in self confidence, personal development and fitness”.

As a boxer he has trained in some of the best gyms in the country. He was the Irish novice champion and 86 fights with 85 wins and 1 draw. He currently holds seven titles.

Jamie Kavanagh

Jamie is calm, collected but a nuisance by name and nature. He is one of the most friendliest people you will ever meet and is true asset to the academy.

He earned a number of national and international accolades at a young age. Since walking into the Crumlin Boxing gym in Dublin at the tender age of 10, and beginning to compete at the age of 11, Kavanagh has racked up over 180 wins in his amateur career, while losing only twelve bouts. From 2001 to 2009, Jamie won 14 Irish national titles along with adding six international titles to his resume.

John Final

John trained with Gavin when Bog Dog first launched. After a few months it was apparent that John had a lot to offer as a trainer. He is now a qualified boxing coach and has been at the club for 9 years and takes many of the adult classes. He has trained Gavin for some of his biggest fights.

He is strict, as he has to be with Jamie and Gav messing around all the time, but he holds the the team together and if you think you’re going to slack off in class - think again if Johns around.
